Examen - Book Trailer - Alice in Wonderland

Soooo…… this semester is over ^__^ I MUST admit I had fun, it was amazing, learned so much about illustration and comission prizes and stuff. Quite cool. Thanks so much for the teacher and her assitant for it.

Sooo…… the final exam! It was a book trailer for the Storytale Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll.
Got to read the book for it and it was fun. Well, based on that we had to make an animated book trailer and show it up in the final class. I must add that I used a new technique this time.

I just used textures, actually paper textures. I wanted to make a prescholar book style, but focusing on the creepy side of the book. That innocence that makes you distrust.

I quote the scene when Alice talks with the Cheshire Cat. That scene marked my life xD

Y bueno, se terminó el semestre. Debo armitir que lo pasé muy bien, aprendí mucho de distintas técnicas y presupuestos y cosas. Muchas gracias al la profesora y al ayudante~!

Eeeeeentonces, el examen. Era un trailer book de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, de Lewis Carroll. Me gusta el libro, yay~!

Para el trailer use una técnica distinta. Nada más que texturas. Quise simular un libro para niños, pero remarcando esta inocencia escabrosa que causa desconfianza.

Cité una escena del libro, el momento en que Alicia habla con el Gato Cheshire. Esa escena marcó mi vida xD.

Propuesta de Serie

Me fave project until now! llD…………

A TV show proposal, with characters design and background and stuff (yay!)

So I picked the little guy in my banner and he'll be my protagonist!
Plot? It's about a kid who goes to visit his grandfather in japan for a loooong season. Of course he's bored, so he tries to find any way possible to have some fun. So he ends up in the house's basement, and finds out that the old man likes to collects several things, several old things, some of them are masks, paintures, scrolls…… Masks………… and he finds this pair of geta (japanese sandals) And right at the moment he touches them BAM! A lid with a hannya mask stands next to him! (Lol?)  So this demon can just be seen when touching the geta, but not just him, all sort of demons can be seen, such as Tengu and Tengu Jr. two twins, Hannya's friends.  Afterwards many adventures happen, the demons are free to break any logical law, so if they want they can take the kid into the paintures and others. These guys are something xD

This series is supposed to be a prescholar series, as the task asked. Here are the designs.

Protagonist: Kevin

This kid is quite practical, maybe too much. Illogical things as not right for him, he's too down to earth. So it's Hannya's mission to make this boy use his imagination more often!

Este chico es bastante práctico, muy lógico y con sentido común. Por lo que es el deber de Hannya hacer que el muchacho use más su imaginación!

He's constantly trying to understand what are the demos doing, due they are alway doing senseless stuff, such as taking objects out of nowhere or suddenly appearing in random places. Hannya's an expert doing that.

Kevin está constantemente intentando entender lo que sucede a su alrededor, de forma científica, pues es algo común que los demonios hagan cosas sin sentido, como sacar objetos de la nada o aparecer en cualquier parte. Hannya es un experto al respecto.

Protagonist: Hannya

A boy using a hannya mask. That's what it looks like, but he is actually a demon. Hannya is very lively, and also very curious. And since he realized that Kevin was able to see him, he's all eager to know everything humans do. He wants to make the same things the boy does.

Un chico que usa una máscara de hannya. Eso es lo que parece, pero en realidad es un demonio. Hannya es muy activo y también muy curioso. Y desde que se dio cuenta de que Kevin era capás de verlo, está ansioso por saber todo al respecto de los humanos. Quiere hacer todo lo que el chico hace.

Hannya is also very trickster and a joker. He won't have problems on making Kevin get into his crazy adentres, why?? Just because, there is no actual reason to have fun~!

Hannya también es un bromista. No tiene problemas en incluir a Keving en sus aventura, ¿Por qué? Porque sí, no hay razones para divertirse.

Co-Protagonist: Tengu

We can say he is the madure guy in this group. Tengu is as down to earth as Kevin. Tengu is a peace lover, he likes things to be in order and calmed. But we can also say that he's quite grumpy. He spends most of the time complaining about Hannya's actitude and protecting his little brother from doing reckles stuff. Nevertheless, despite his protocolar mind, he doesn't mind all the senseless stuff Hannya does, due he can do de same.

Podemos decir que él es el maduro del grupo. Tengu es tan práctico como Kevin. Le gusta la paz y las cosas en su lugar. Pero también podemos decir que es algo gruñón. Pasa la mayoría del tiempo criticando a los humanos, el comportamiento de Hannya, y cuidando a su hermano menor de meterse en problemas. A pesar de todo, él no pone el duda las cosas sin sentido que Hannya hace, puesto que él también puede hacerlo.

Co-Protagonist: Tengu Jr.

Mostly called Junior. He's Tengu's little twin brother. The difference with him, is that he's all friendly! Actually, so friendly that he does not knwo when something is dangerous! (Isn't he cute?) He's always seeing the possitive side of everything, that makes him like the stuff Hannya constantly does, and ends up dragging Tengu with him.

Generalmente llamado Junior. Él es el gemelo menor de Tengu. A diferencia de él, este demonio es muy amigable! De hecho, es tan amigable que no distingue entre lo peligroso y lo bueno (Aawww~) Siempre está viendo el lado positivo a las cosas, eso hace que admire todo lo que Hannya hace, y también arrastra a su hermano con él.

Despite they are fairly different, these two are and will always together. Tengu will always protect his brother, and Junior will always help his brother to relax a bit from all his protocol.

A pesar de sus diferencias, estos gemelos siempre estarán juntos. Tengu protegerá a si hermano constantemente, y Junior ayudará a que este se aleje un poco de su protocolo.

Extras: Ashigamari - Alex - Grandfather

The ashigamari are little fluffy demons that will always be around the demon's world. They use to tangle around your feet, and like to run everywhere. All silent and sneaky, quite cute as well.

Alex is Grandfather's neightboor, and also a very good friend of Kevin. The only problem, is that he can't tell her about the demons, due she's completely a ghost-phobic! (Does that word exist? xD) 

Grandfather is such a good old man! He's always in good mood. Likes collecting things, specially old things, and save them in the basement. But…… does he know about the demons in there???

Los ashigamari son pequeñas pelusas demonios que les gusta rondar por ahí entre los pies de las personas. Si de repente te tropiezas de la nada, es porque ellos se enredaron contigo. Son muy silenciosos y escurridizos.

Alex es una niña muy amistosa. Ella y su familia son los vecinos más cercanos a la retirada casa del abuelo. También es una buena amiga de Kevin. Pero él no puede contarle sobre los demonios, pues es completamente temerosa a los fantasmas!

El abuelo es una increíble persona! Siempre de buen humor. Le gusta coleccionar cosas, especialmente cosas antiguas. Pero……… tiene idea de los demonios en su sótano??

Background: Basement

Most of the adventures/episodes start in here, in the house's basement. As you see, there's nothing wrong with it, it has several boxes, covered things…… yeah. Yay, but as soon as Keving touches the geta……

La gran mayoría de los episodios comienzan aquí, en el sótano. Como ven, aquí no se ve nada fuera de lo normal, muchas cajas, muebles tapados… seeeh… Pero tan pronto como Kevin toca los geta…

Everything turns into a very saturated world xD Yeah, demon's logic, don't ask me. 

Todo se torna en un muy saturado y texturizado mundo xD. Sí, demon logic, no me pregunten.

Basically that's my series proposal. I can't be prouder of it. I used a totally diferente way to color, something makes me quite happy. I'm not good with coloring xD (still learning)

Básicamente esta es mi propuesta de serie. No puedo estar más orgulloza al respecto. Use una técnica de color completamente distinta a lo que suelo usar, además, no soy muy buena en color (mejora en progreso)

Mascota Brasil 2016

Woohooo~!!
I love making mascots… actually creating characters =w=

Task: Design a mascot for the Olympic Games in Brazil 2016.
Instead of choosing an animal (the most typical thing) I decided to pick up something unique in the culture of the country, and I remembered that many years ago, when we went to Brazil, my father gave me several postcards about the gods of the Brazil. They were fantastic, all of them with they faces covered with gorgeous jelwery. The goddess of water, the god the war… of fire, the princes of war and so many others! I HAD to use that for my mascot.
I realized there was nothing such as "god of sports" between these gods, so I focused that theme. About the jelwery, it is based on the symbol of all nations. And saved its colors for the neackles. The clothes have a detail of the laurel wreath.
Basically, this guy is the flag of the olympics xD.
Oh! And because every gods had an object in their hands, this guy has the torch of the Games.

About the process, first I did a "normal" version of the character, and then I just "cartooned" it. So the chibi version is the normal version X)

Adoro hacer mascotas, o más que nada diseñar personajes.

Encargo: Diseñar una mascota para las Olimpiadas de Brasil 2016.
En lugar de un animal decidí buscar un elemento único en la cultura del país, y recordé que años atrás mi padre me regaló unas postales de los dioses brasileros. Por lo que me basé en dichos diseños para crear a mi mascota.
Me di cuenta de que no existía nada como el dios del deporte o parecido, por lo que me enfoqué con esa temática. En cuanto a la joyería, está basado en el símbolo de todas las naciones y sus colores, mientras que la ropa tiene detalles de la corona de laurel. Como todos los dioses portan un objeto, este personaje tiene la antorcha de los juegos.

En cuanto al proceso, primero hice una versión "natural" del personaje, y luego lo caricaturicé para dar el toque amigable.

Cuento para iPad

This task was totally awesome! OwO
Create an iPad application about a StoryTale, must be interactive and tell the story (of course)

I grew up with the originals of the Grimm Brothers (they're just simply awesome!!), so making this was simply the best!

And if this works, I may offer this to make an actual application (isn't it great??)

So I chose the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin (Rattenfänger von Hameln)

Aaaand here it is a screen of the app. The scene when the piper takes out the rats. The scene will also play a lovely music, and several light stroke and curves will appear, the objective of this is to trace the lights with your fingers, following the melody of the song, it's like that vocaloid game ^^.
The better you play the song, more rats will come out of the screen. And in you can complete the song, the piper will clap at the end of the song, but if you fail, he'll be really dissapointed………  This application won't just have this single song, but will appear several ones, for different scenes, like for exapmple, when the piper arrives to town.

Hacer una aplicación interactiva con un cuento de los hermanos Grimm!

Yo crecí con los originales de los Grimm~ Hacer esto fue taaaan  genial!

Entonces escogí el Flautista de Hammelín.

Si esto funciona, tal ves ofrezca esto para una aplicación real? No lo se

He aquí una pantalla de la acción de la aplicación, cuando el flautista está encantando a las ratas. El objetivo es trazar con el dedo los ases de luz siguiendo el ritmo mientras suena la canción.

And this second screen shows a "non-action" scene. Here you just have to listen to the story. BUT, you will also have to interact with the screen, it means, after hearing what the paragraph says, you will be able to tip on some objects, and hidden sounds will appear! Letting you save them, and use the for composing a brand new song! (In another section of the application)

Y la otra pantalla es una página del cuento sin acción, de todas formas es posible interactuar con la pantalla, al tocas ciertos elementos que te permitirán coleccionar sonidos para una futura composición.

Personally I'm so proud of this project. Specially about the drawing, I just hope it works for making it real!

Personalmente estoy muy orgullosa de este encargo. Simplemente disfruté mucho dibujando~!

Hostal Casa de Todos

Again we had a class with mr. Ballesteros~ This time we learned to make compositions using analogue stamps, quite funny :3

The theme was a poster for a hostel "Casa de Todos"

Conditions: Use CMYK, one color each stamp and overlayed.

Nuevamente tuvimos una clase con Carles Ballesteros. Y esta vez aprendimos a hacer composiciones con elementos análogos, es decir timbres.

El tema era hacer un afiche para el hostal Casa de Todos.

Condiciones de encargo: Uso del CMYK, un color para cada figura, sobre puesta entre sí.

Carátula de Disco (Woow!)

A very inspirating task~!

I love drawing with music, and this picture was about it. We had to make a CD cover for any music band.

And of cooooourse I chose ONE OK ROCK! I've been following those guys for soooo long ago! years! I love them!

So the choosen CD was their single "Deeper Deeper/Nothing Helps", it came out at the beginning of this year.

Conditions of the task:

1. Just using 3 colors: Black/Free/Free.
2. Illustrate an "normal" event, with an uncommon element.
3. Uh..……… that.

Encargo de mucha inspiración~!

Me fascina dibujar con música, y este encargo fue sobre eso. El encargo este era hacer una carátula de disco de vinilo de 40cms por 40cms. Banda?? A elección propia (Genial no??)

Mi banda a escoger fue One Ok Rock. He seguido a estos chicos por años! Me encantan~!
(Y a pesar de no ser de habla inglesa, su acento es realmente bueno!)

Escogí el single "Deeper Deeper / Nothing Helps", salido a inicios de este año.

Condiciones del encargo:

1. Uso de tres colores: Negro/Elección/Elección.
2. Ilustrar un evento "Cotidiano" con un elemento inusual.
3. Uh………… Eso

Elementos de Ciudad

Fun illustration.
At the day of this task we got visited by Carlos Ballesteros, cool illustrator who taught us some tricks in Illustrator and Photoshop (Thank you so much!)

The task was to show some elements of any city and make a composition with them. I chose Beijing.
The picture was fully made in Illustrator and I took cultural elements as much as architectonic elements of Beijing. It wasn't easy, because more than representing the city, they represented the whole country, still I'm very proud of the result~

I just love drawing Dragons as well, and this was a great chance to do so!

El día en que el encargo fue hecho recibimos la visita de Carles Ballesteros, divertido ilustrador catalán que nos enseñó algunos trucos en Illustrator y Photoshop (Muchas Gracias!!)

El encargo era ilustrar los elementos de alguna ciudad y formar una composición con ellos. Mi ciudad a escoger fue Beijing.

El trabajo fue netamente  hecha en Illustrator, y tomé elementos tanto arquitectónios como culturales de Beijing. Honestamente no fue fácil, pues más que cosas que represente al la ciudad, encontré cosas que representan a la cultura. De todas formas, estoy satisfecha con el resultado.

Me fascina dibujar Dragones y esta era una gran oportunidad para hacerlo.

We had the possibility of using several colors, but I decided to keep the bi-chroma, as reference of the chinese ink, the bg acts as paper.
Personally I love the Southern Lion! So fluffly and cute! Looks like a kitten~……

Teníamos la posibilidad de usar varios colores, mas quise mantener el bicolor, y una referencia a la tinta china. El fondo asemeja el papel.

Personalmente me gusta el León del Sur! Tan fluffy y lindo! Parece un gatito…………

Leyendas Chilenas Illustradas

My zone! Hahaha!!

The task was simple; choose a national legend and illustrate it.
I picked one of my favourite story tales, which I grew up with; Kai Kai Vilu and Tren Tren Vilu, two giant snakes who in a battle created Los Andes.
Many say it's a story from Chiloe (a tiny island in the south)……… but why would the people of an island, tell a story about the high mountains?? An island which luckily reaches the 1.000 motsl???
Well I ignore it, the myth keeps being awesome~

Mi fuerte! Hahaha!!

El task era simple; escoger una leyenda nacional e ilustrarla.
Yo escogí una de mis historias favoritas, con la que crecí; Kai Kai Vilu y Tren Tren Vilu, dos serpientes gigantes que en un enfrentamiento se creó la Cordillera de los Andes.
Varios dicen que es una historia chilota, yo creo que es austral………… por qué los chilotes, si están en una isla, contarían la historia de los Andes??? En una latitud en que las montañas con suerte alcanzan los 1.500 msnm???
Bueno, lo ignoro, para mí el mito sigue siendo genial~

Reportaje Illustrado

This has been one of the most interesting works I've done in this class. As class we went to the Zoo, and of course, draw the animals in there, like a study. It was quite interesting, like when I used to draw sparrows or bunny in one of my old schools there in La Serena (Aaaaaawww………)

Este ha sido de los encargos uno de los más interesantes. Como clase debimos ir al Zoológico del Cerro San Cristóbal y dibujar animales. Fue bastante interesante, como cuando dibujaba gorriones o conejos en uno de mis antiguos colegios allá en La Serena (Aaaaaawww………)

   

 

From these sketches I had to make an illustrated report. It was really nice to make, and the conditions teacher gave us was to use just one color and gray scale.
The thing is that instead of doing just a report, I decided to make a story tale in verse, telling my lil sis my day in the zoo.

De estos bocetos de tenía que hacer un reportaje ilustrado digital. Fue realmente agradable de hacer, y las condiciones agregaron desafío al encargo (Escalas de grises y solo un color)
En lugar de un reportaje hecho y derecho, decidí hacer un cuento en verso. Relatando a mi hermana menor, mi experiencia en el Zoológico.

Bueno, esta entrega fue bastante entretenida.

En un inicio fue dibujar ciertos objetos a base de nuestra memoria, sin hacer uso de referencias. Mas luego debimos re-dibujar y con fotos guía. He aquí mis cuatro ilustraciones :D

Auto-Retrato

Primer Trabajo Ilustrativo universitario.
Un Auto-retrato utilizando objetos que describan cómo soy.

Honestamente esta entrega fue un desafío mayor que cualquier otro dibujo!
Buscar objetos que describan como soy no fue fácil~!
Para empezar, alambres fueron utilizados para hacer el trazado del pelo y rostro, mientras  que tapas de lápices  componían mis ojos (Referencia a que dibujo hasta en mi mente con lo que veo). La chaqueta y  los aros son exactamente los mismos que uso en vida real. ¿Y el parche de Transformers? Bueno, basta con conocerme un poco para entenderlo.
